Membership at Chelsea Village
At Chelsea Village, we take church membership seriously. Church membership is a commitment that is made by the members of the church to be committed to God and to one another. The person who is joining Chelsea Village commits to be actively involved in the church by attending, serving in ministry, praying for fellow Christians, giving to the work of the ministry, and being an encouragement to other believers. The other members of the church are committing to love you, encourage you, pray for you, and keep you accountable to follow Christ. In expressing these commitments, we believe that we are simply asking Christians to follow the biblical pattern of what it means to be a follower of Christ. We ask that you prayerfully consider the commitment that is involved in being a member of Chelsea Village
Essentials for Membership at Chelsea Village
Experience of Conversion to Christ
We understand the Bible to teach that the membership of a church is composed of people who have faith in Jesus Christ. A Christian is a person who has believed on the Lord Jesus Christ alone as Savior and whose heart has been changed by Him. We do not think that a person must know the exact time or even date of their conversion, but that they will be able to express that they have faith in Christ and have been changed by him. If you have questions about what it means to be a Christian, please contact one of our pastors. They would love to talk to you about it.
Believer’s Baptism by Immersion
We understand the Bible to teach that a person who has become a Christian will follow Christ in believer’s baptism. We believe that proper baptism takes place when a person who is already a Christian is completely immersed in water. We believe this following the example of Jesus and because we understand Romans 6 to teach that baptism symbolizes our union with Christ in the likeness of his death, burial, and resurrection. If you are a Christian who has not been baptized and desire to do so, please contact one of our pastors about scheduling your baptism.
Membership Interview
To submit yourself for membership at Chelsea Village, you need to meet with one of the pastors for a membership interview. We want to make sure that we have a chance to get to know you and make sure that you understand what membership involves at Chelsea Village. During this interview, you will talk to one of the pastors about your conversion experience and understanding of the Christian message. If you are transferring from a sister church, we want to make sure that you are leaving there the right way. Also, we will give you a chance to ask any questions that you have about the church.
